Greg Domres and I met during his 10 year tenure at John Derian where he ran wholesale and production. We bonded over our shared love of Litchfield and beautiful products. I always admired the work he did and have now become a huge fan of his unique and utterly charming art form.
In the early 90s, while living in the mid-west, Greg was given an assortment of chenille stems (also known as pipe cleaners). Intrigued by their texture and color, the self-taught artist instinctively began weaving and layering them into unique interpretations, creating winsome still lifes, landscapes and sculptures. Two decades later, dividing his time between Manhattan and Litchfield, he continues to refine this outsider art form he refers to as stemming.
We're thrilled to have Greg's work in the shop and online. You can also find him on his instagram and online.
